MVBC History

Mount Vernon Baptist Church, located in Curry, AL is dedicated to serving God and ministering to his people. It's quest to reach out to the community has evolved over time but the ultimate goal has never changed: To spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world and to stregthen the surrounding community to be witnesses to the truth and warriors for God. The Church is God's house, God's place of fellowship for all those seeking and desiring the Lord and all his rightousness, and we are blessed to have a Savior who loves us and a country where we can freely worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mount Vernon Baptist Church uses an acrostic to explain our approach to the Gospel and the way in which we serve our Savior. The word WORLD is used for this and is explained below:

W -	Worship the Lord - we are to worship the Lord individually and corporately and make Him our delight, so that in everything He may have the preeminence

O -	Obey the Word - we are to obey the Word of God and order our lives and church in accordance with it

R -	Reach the Lost - we are to reach the lost and unchurched with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the power of God unto salvation

L -	Love the Saints - we are to love all men and especially those of the household of faith

D -	Disciple the Believers - we are to disciple the followers of Jesus Christ in such a way that they may grow to maturity in the faith
