’m glad you visited our website! If you haven’t yet visited Mount Vernon I’d like to invite you to come worship with us. We are a church seeking to “get to know the God of the Bible and make Him known to others.” That means that we place much emphasis on teaching and preaching the Word of God. It also means that we place much emphasis on missions and evangelism here and around the world. In 2009, Mount Vernon supported or had members take part in mission trips to Brazil, Honduras, Arizona, New Orleans, and Nicaragua. Seventy-seven of our members participated in a mission endeavor in 2009, including three of our staff members that took part in international mission trips.
When you put together the budget items over the last 12 months for domestic and International Missions, including the Cooperative Program, Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, Walker Baptist Association, ALCAP, The Alabama Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries, the benevolence ministry, the Fall Festival, support for a mission church in Arizona, and support for one of the few full time pastors in Honduras, along with the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, Gideons International, nursing home ministry, Angel Tree ministry, Pregnancy Test and Resource Center, support for various mission projects, and what members spent on mission trips, Mount Vernon invested over $212,000.00 this year to impact our world for Christ.
